By immersing you in the forest of Bois de Fécamp, near the Cottage Route, you’ll find an unusual and magical place: the remains of St Thomas Chapel!

Chapelle St Thomas, Aizier

When legend and history collide

Make a knot and make a wish…

At the edge of the Brotonne Forest, in Aizier, you’ll find an unusual and magical place: St Thomas Chapel, dedicated to Thomas Becket, Archbishop of Canterbury.

The site dates back to the 11th century and features Roman ruins of the only fully excavated leper colony in France.

A new path is now open to visitors to help them discover the site’s history through an interpretive trail and learn about the daily life of lepers and the leper colony.

The chapel still remains a place of worship and devotion today. Here where tales and legends endure, it is said that you must tie a knot in a branch from a tree near the chapel… if the knot remains tied over time, your wish will come true! Such a romantic idea!
